Noted authors and gifted teachers Rodger Kamenetz and Moira Crone will lead a Writers Retreat at Butler Greenwood Plantation in St. Francisville, LA on August 27-28, 2016. Participants stay in lovely cottages on the Plantation grounds and will be instructed about including metonymy and metaphor in their writing and making use of dreams and myths in fiction and prose. Those attending may bring up to five pages of writing for the husband-and-wife team of Kamenetz and Crone to critique.
The registration deadline is August 1, and a maximum of 24 participants (12 in fiction and 12 in nonfiction) will be able to register. Butler Greenwood was begun in the 1790s by members of the same family that still occupies it today. Attendees may enjoy the pool, the duck pond and hikes around the cottages. Those who wish to book an additional night must contact owner and author Anne Butler at 225.635.6312 or firstname.lastname@example.org . Questions may be emailed to email@example.com. Refunds for rooms ($150) may be given if requested by noon on August 10; however, the rest of the workshop is nonrefundable.
